Cincinnati Bengals Draft TE Orson Charles in Fourth Round

The Cincinnati Bengals continued their tendency to draft production over need by choosing Georgia tight end Orson Charles in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Though the Bengals have no glaring needs headed into today's final rounds, they are certainly looking to add depth at several positions. With Jermaine Gresham, Colin Cochart and Donald Lee already on the roster, it's not quite clear where Charles fits into that picture.

Charles is a former WR turned tight end with good speed. He's not necessarily a tremendous blocker.

It could be that the Bengals are imitating the Patriots model of using two tight ends, splitting one out into a slot receiver position. Either Gresham or Charles would fit that bill.

One thing is certain, Charles, like Gresham, will present some matchup problems for opposing defenses with his combination of size and speed. The only question is if that's too much of a good thing for this Bengals team.
