After a chaotic early part of the first round that saw trades flying everywhere, the Bengals stayed true to many mock drafts, taking cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick from the University of Alabama.
At 6'2" he give the Bengals their most physical corner to match up against bigger wide receivers. The Bengals chose Kirkpatrick despite several other high profile defensive players sliding such as South Carolina DE Melvin Ingram.
Kirkpatrick also has an incredible 30-inch wingspan and is touted for his ability to match up in press coverage. There is a question mark about his ball skills, however, as he only netted three interceptions during his Alabama career.
This pick gives the Bengals a stable of corners. With Leon Hall coming off an Achilles' injury and three others due to become unrestricted free agents after 2012, the team felt they couldn't pass on a potential shut down corner with this pick.
The Bengals will pick again at number 21.Tags: Cincinnati, Cincinnati Bengals, Football, NFL
