The Cincinnati Bengals and WKRC-TV jointly announced an extension to their agreement for WKRC to air Bengals' preseason games along with a variety of in-season specials and shows.
The agreement continues a long tradition of the local CBS affiliate airing the Bengals during the preseason. WKRC Vice President and General Manager Les Vann was thrilled that his station could continue to hold the rights to Bengals games which consistently produce the highest ratings for the station:
"The Bengals games are consistently the #1 program each week they appear on TV, and that reign has lasted longer than 100 weeks. The Bengals are an important part of WKRC-TV’s heritage as the Local Station."
The partnership works well for creating viewer loyalty. With the Bengals being an AFC team, the vast majority of their regular season contests are also broadcast on WKRC.
Long-time Bengals' radio play-by-play voice and WKRC Sports Director Brad Johansen will again team up with Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz for the broadcasts. Because the Bengals are appearing on FOX for their preseason game at Atlanta, WKRC will only get three preseason games this year, home against the Jets and Packers and the last preseason game in Indianapolis.
Additionally, WKRC will air a Bengals preview show prior to the first preseason game and return with the popular Bengals Nation weekly broadcast. The station will also air Bengals Backstage each Sunday night of the regular season at 11:35 p.m. breaking down that day's game.Tags: Anthony Munoz, Brad Johansen, Cincinnati, Cincinnati Bengals, Football, NFL
