The Cincinnati Bengals returned to Paul Brown Stadium today after a week off and began preparations for their visit to Seattle Sunday to take on the Seahawks. The team will be looking to pick up where they left off as they enter next week riding a three game winning streak.
The secondary, and perhaps the return unit, gets a boost with the return of Adam "PacMan" Jones. Jones has been on the PUP list recovering from off season neck surgery and was cleared to begin practicing. The Bengals have a three week roster exemption on Jones which permits him to practice without counting against the 53 man roster. With Cedric Benson serving his suspension this week, the Bengals could even suit up Jones on Sunday without having to make a roster move.
Whenever Jones is added to the roster, he can plan on getting a phone call from Roger Goodell. Like Cedric Benson, Jones was involved in an off-field "incident" during the lockout. Jones was one of those named as a repeat offender in the negotiation between the NFL and the NFLPA for discipline. Given the reduction of Benson's suspension, Jones would probably be facing a one game suspension at the most.
Not all is well on defense, however. Thomas Howard continues to nurse a leg injury and Rey Maualuga will most likely miss his second game as he recovers from a badly sprained ankle. That means Dan Skuta will most likely be back in action at MLB and Brandon Johnson could see a start Sunday if Howard can't go.Tags: Brandon Johnson, Cincinnati, Cincinnati Bengals, Dan Skuta, Football, NFL, Rey Maualuga, Thomas Howard
