The Cincinnati Bengals confirmed on Monday that wide receiver Jordan Shipley is out for the rest of 2011. Shipley tore his ACL in his left knee after making a catch Sunday in Denver. He was immediately in pain and had to be helped from the field, unable to bear any weight on his left leg.
The team officially placed him on injured reserve Monday. It is not known when he will have surgery or what the prognosis is for his recovery.
Shipley led all AFC rookies in receiving yards last year and was a dependable slot receiver. He had also returned punts on occasion. Andre Caldwell will move into the third receiver spot. As of yet, the Bengals have not made a roster move to fill Shipley's spot.
