Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer has reported that former Bengal radio play-by-play announcer, Brad Johanson, will remain in that role for Bengal preseason television games. Johanson will team with Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz for the games which air on WKRC-TV.
The Bengals opted not to renew Johanson following this season and named Dan Hoard, the former sports director at WXIX and voice of the Cincinnati Bearcats as their play-by-play man opposite Dave Lapham. It was a curious move for the organization know for its loyalty. Bengals corporate sales, marketing and broadcasting director, Vince Cicero stated that Hoard's status as a "freelance journalist" allows him to spend more time cultivating the social media outreach for the franchise. It is believed that Johanson, sports director for Channel 12, was tied down too much with that position to put in the time necessary outside the booth.
